Hand-Made
Commissions

Guidelines (please review)

Thanks for your interest in a hand-made piece! Throughout this process, I appreciate your patience and your feedback as I try my best to create something meaningful for you.

1.

Overview: Please contact me with your request and its intended purpose (e.g., a thank you card for X, a cactus wreath painting with X quote, etc.). The more detailed information you can provide, the better!

Since there is so much variability in these designs, I will provide a quote to you after I have all the details. My estimated pricing range is about $15 (for simple, lettered quotes on paper) to $60 (for complex designs involving lettering, illustration, and more expensive materials). Let me know if you have questions about pricing, since my goal is to make this art as accessible as possible.

2.

Timeline: My typical turn around time to produce a hand-made design is 7-10 days from when I receive your request and materials. This does not account for the length of time it takes to ship something. I can do my best to be flexible — just let me know if you're facing a deadline.

3.

Materials: If relevant, I may use reference pictures to create a digital design. If you're looking for a digital illustration of a particular flower/animal, it's always helpful to see what you're envisioning! You're also invited to send a sketch (it doesn't need to be perfect -- just something to help me bring your design to life).

4.

Size and base materials, paint/ink preferences, and color scheme: Let me how you’re planning on using the piece (e.g., a 5x7 card on sturdy white paper, a 9x9 wooden surface, etc.) so I can get the dimensions and materials right. Please also pass along a desired color scheme (for the background, fonts, etc.) if you have one in mind. If not, I’m happy to pick one for you!

5.

Logistics: I’ll send you a draft sketch of the piece through messenger/email when I have it. Feel free to send me your feedback at this time, which I’ll do my best to incorporate! This part is important because I am not able to make many edits beyond this point. I will send you a picture of the piece once it is finished.

If you are local to Seattle, you can pay through cash/electronic methods (see below) and we can arrange a time/place to pick up the piece.

If you're outside of Seattle, I will provide you with the shipping cost and it will be added onto the initial quote.

I accept the payment through Facebook messenger and Venmo (@Holly-Durr). This can also be arranged through Etsy, so let me know if you'd prefer this (though there are additional charges). Once that’s all taken care of, I’ll send the piece and provide you with a tracking number.

6.

Social Media: If you end up sharing the piece, I’ll ask that you tag my art account for credit (@penandprosody on Instagram and “Pen & Prosody” on Facebook). I also love seeing the finished pieces in the real world! If you prefer that I do not share the design on social media, let me know and I can keep it on the down low.

7.

Let me know if you have any questions at all! Contact me through Facebook Messenger ("Pen and Prosody") or email (penandprosody@gmail.com). Thanks for your support, and I look forward to creating something for you.

After you've read through the guidelines:
